ASTROLOGY
WRITTEN BY MARCIA FOSTER
The word "Astrology" means the study of the effect that the Sun, Moon, and the planets have on the Earth, humans, animals, and plants.  I studied Astrology in 1968.  My additional sources of information comes from an Astrology book called KISS (Keep It Simple Series) by Julia & Derek Parker.
I know a gentleman that knows his horoscrope signs are Leo, Leo, Leo.  When he told me this, I was truly impressed.  That means that his Ascendent (rising) sign is in Leo, his Moon sign is in Leo, and his Sun sign is in Leo.  As we go further, you will see why this is COOL!  (Who is the gentlemen--rearrange the letters (fwreecndarbdlaor) to find out.)

There are Twelve astrological signs in the Zodiac.
1.  ARIES---the Ram, Fire, Cardinal, Mars, Masculine, Head.
2.  TAURUS---the Bull, Earth, Fixed, Venus, Feminine,Throat.
3. GEMINI---the Twins, Air, Mutable, Mercury, Masculine, Arms.

Please note: Each sign is listed in the order of their symbol, element, qualities, planet that rules the sign, gender, and the part of the body each sign governs.

Some explanations.....................
Elements of the Signs are Fire (enthusiasm), Earth (practicality), Air (intellectualism), and Water (emotionalism).
Qualities/Energies of the Signs are Cardinal (spontaneous and sociable), Fixed (determined), and Mutable (versatile and flexible).
Planets that rule each sign. (see below)
Gender of the signs are masculine (positive, extroverted, sociable, and outwardly driven) and feminine (negative, (introverted, less sociable, and inwardly focused).
Parts of the body that are governed by each sign.  Designated parts of the body that each sign rules or governs.  Self explanatory.

The meaning of each planet........................
Sun (self-expression, vitality, joyfulness, and generosity); Moon (instinct, intuition, emotion, vacillation, and responsiveness); Mercury (intellect, communication, reason, and versatility); Venus (love, harmony, beauty, and consensus); Mars (physical energy, initiative, aggression, and decisiveness); Jupiter (expansion, extravagance, justice, and luck); Saturn (stability, restriction, limitation, tenacity, control, and hard work); Uranus (change, disruption, shock, eccentricity, independence, and originality); Neptune (carelessness, idealism, imagination, sensitivity, and unreal); Pluto (elimination, eruptive change, secretiveness, and sexuality).

The meaning of each house...........................
There are twelve houses that are strongly associated with the  zodiac signs and planets that represent a particular area of human life.  They are 1st house--governs psychological motivation and well-being and is the house of Aries and Mars.  2nd house--governs possessions and emotions and is the house of Taurus and Venus.  3rd house--governs brothers, sisters, early education, the environment, and transportation and is the house of Gemini and Mercury. 4th house--governs home, domestic life, and parents (especially the mother) and is the house of Cancer and the Moon.  5th house--governs creativity, pleasure, love affairs, risk taking, children, and the father, and is the house of Leo and the Sun.  6th house--governs health, diet, exercise, hobbies, and routine work, and is the house of Virgo and Mercury.  7th house--governs partners and relationships and is the house of Libra and Venus.  8th house--governs sex, investments, and heritage, and is the house of Scorpio and Pluto.  9th house--governs ideals, higher education, challenge, long-distance travel, and dreams, and is the house of Sagittarius and Jupiter.  10th house--governs ambitions and aspirations, and is the house of Capricorn and Saturn.  11th house--governs friends, social life, social conscience, and objectives, and is the house of Aquarius and Uranus.  12th house--governs faith, escapism, seclusion, and institutions, and is the house of Pisces and Neptune.

Three most important signs in your horoscope.........................
Ascendant (Rising) Sign:  This sign indicates your temperament and how the public sees you.  To determine this sign you will need to know your time of birth, and if not, use 12 midnight.  Once you look up your Rising Sign in an astrology book, this will be the sign placed in your 1st house when you chart your horoscope.
Moon Sign:  This sign indicates your personality and how you express yourself.  You can determine this sign by looking up your date of birth in an astrology book.
Sun Sign: This sign indicates the inner (real) you and how you see yourself.  You can determine this sign by looking up your date of birth in an astrology book.
All three signs contribute to reveal a complete picture of who you are--like Leo, Leo, Leo!  This person displays charm, showmanship, and enthusiastic characteristics with the public, with you, and with himself.  As with myself, my Ascendant (Rising) Sign is Aries (want to do something); my Moon Sign is Scorpio (want to change something); and my Sun Sign is Cancer (want to love something).  That's me, alright!

NOTE: Depending on the astrological book that you use, Sun Sign dates may vary by one or two days!  The Sun rotates around the Earth every 30 days.  Accordingly, the "cusp" (overlap) is about 7 days before your birth date.  Example:  If your birthday date is April 21 and Taurus starts April 21, you are considered on the "cusp" and there is a possibility that the Sun was still in Aries when you were born.  However, don't confuse yourselves, just use the date that is closest to your birthday to derived at your Sun Sign.  If your birth date is on the "cusp", you might want to read both Sun Signs (Aries and Taurus.)

Dates of the Sun Signs...........................
Aries---March 21 - April 20Libra---September 23 - October 23
Taurus---April 21 - May 21Scorpio---October 24 - November 22
Gemini---May 22 - June 21Sagittarius---November 23 - December 21
Cancer---June 22 - July 22Capricorn---December 22 - January 20
Leo---July 23 - August 23  Aquarius---January 21 - February 18
Virgo---August 24 - September 22  Pisces---February 19 - March 20

Description of The Sun Signs..........................
Ariens are determined to win, sometimes at all costs.  They are full of energy and creativity, and need careers and activities that enable them to use up all that drive.  Watch out for a tendency toward selfishness.
Taureans are warm-hearted, charming, and determined.  They enjoy both personal and financial success, and love luxury and comfort.  But they must watch for a tendency toward possessiveness and overindulgence.
Geminis are witty, lively, nervous, intellectual, and inquisitive.  They excel in any area that requires good communication skills and personal charm, including the media, sales, and advertising.  Watch out for their tendency to be fickle, especially in love, and to settle for superficial knowledge.
Cancerians are loving, nurturing, imaginative, and protective.  They are natural-born parents and carers who have a deep love for the past and for tradition.  They thrive on the home front, but also in business, teaching, and the caring professions.  They can, however, be overprotective, moody, and clinging.
Leos are positive and happy and waste no time on regrets.  They are great organizers and faithful partners.  The pitfall here is that they tend to take the lead in everything--romance, career, parenting, and relationships.
Virgoans are practical, modest, intelligent, and analytical, and they are among the great communicators of the zodiac.  Often content to remain "behind the scenes," Virgoans are natural teachers, scientist, and healers.  On the downside, they must watch out for a sometimes paralyzing tendency to self-denigrate and an equally strong urge to criticize others.
Librans are diplomatic, romantic, easygoing, and sociable.  They hate the idea of being alone and have a marvelous facility for harmoniously bringing people together.  They must keep a check on their tendencies to be gullible, indecisive, and too laid-back.
Scorpios are intuitive, incisive, powerful, passionate, and magnetic.  They are the famed lovers of the zodiac, with a deep and often mysterious sensuality, but they often make a successful career in the "straight" world of big business.  A Scorpios singularly worst trait is jealousy--in the bedroom, in the living room, in the board room, and in the gym--it can be the downfall of an otherwise wonderful life.
Sagittarians are carefree, versatile, and passionate.  They like activities that combine the active and the philosophical.  But they do have a fear of getting trapped--into a routine, a relationship, or responsibilities.
Capricorns are reserved, disciplined, cautious, and practical, and they are the most devoted of lovers and spouses.  Many Capricorns are found among the great, self-made successes of the world because they are so single-minded.  Some short-change their families in favor of work.Aquarians are inventive, independent, friendly, and humanitarian.  While they're always willing to offer a helping hand, at heart they enjoy solitude--sometimes too much.  They often choose a career--scientific research--where they can work independently and draw on their keen inventive skills.  The drawback here is that solitude and independent thinking can easily turn into seclusion and intractability.
Pisceans are sensitive, artistic, worldly, and sympathetic.  They are the poets of the zodiac and often apply their considerable creative talents to a variety of situations and careers.  Like Cancerians, Pisceans are natural nurturers who often make their mark in medicine, psychiatric counseling, and pastoral work.  They are also frequently found among the great actors of the world.  The darker side of this dualistic sign is a tendency toward escapism, evasiveness, oversensitive, and deceitfulness.
