BE THERE MAGAZINE is Russell Price, Jr. I interviewed Russell over brunch at the Diner in Silver Spring on a cloudy Wednesday on April 27, 2011. Russell had a hearty breakfast, which included his favorite, blueberry pancakes.
Russell is the MASTERMIND behind Russell's News, Washington Business Guide, and currently Be There Magazine. He created this magazine to keep the public, especially the Black community, up-to-date on news, issues, entertainment, business enpowerment, social events, and to acknowledge indiviudals in the community.

Russell Price, Jr. was born on September 2 (Virgo) in Philadelphia, PA. He joined the Air Force in 1966 and stayed in the military (active and reserve) for 27 years. He came to Washington, D.C. in 1972 via the Air Force. In 1978, he worked as a manager for the Bank of America in D.C. In 1983, Russell became a Prince George County Police Officer in Maryland. On October 25, 1986, Russell became self-employed and opened a business of fashions and gifts in Maryland. The store was named "Russell's". By this time, Russell had done plenty of adventuresome, exciting, and interesting things, however, this was really special to him. When the store opened, he only had about $28 left in his checking account, but as he described it "with a positive attitude and faith" anything is possible. On the day of the opening, it was pouring down rain and he didn't get too much encouragement from his
friends--the day didn't look too good. However, the sun came out and at least 300 people came thru the door. He had enough money to pay the rent for the next month with a little left over. The motto of this story is to give "yourself" encouragement and faith that you need and never, ever stop believing that it "can" be done!
Russell has also MASTERMINDED: (1) the Ultimate Party Bus that took patrons to different clubs in the community while they were partying on the bus. (2) Various Fashion Shows that represented the auctioning and purchase of modern fashions. (3) Initiated Spirit of Washington boat rides. (4) Presented Man, Woman, and other awards of the year to various individuals in the community. (5) Radio Talk show host on WOL. (6) Associated with the Black Caucus. (7) Collector of pictures of famous and pretigeous individuals. (8) Created Eye on the Hand Dancer which was viewed in the Washington Business Guide. (9) Networking and Social genius/promotor/host. (10) Internet Relationship Talk Show Host. (11) Web Designer, (12) Promotor, (13) Relationship analyst/expert, and (14) author. This probably just names a few of Russell's abilities, projects, and endeavors.

Russell above with County Exec Baker, News 4 Newscaster, and hand dancing with Marcia. I met Russell in 2002 and my life has not been the same. I have God at the top of my life, then the IRS, then Russell. With Russell you have to earn his respect but once you do, he is a true friend. He knows what he knows and knows that he knows it. During the course of our friendship, I found him fun, outgoing, extroverted, has a mission, likes people, loves socializing, a thinker, positive, exciting, adorable, wonderful, a mentor, respectful, intelligent, and manly. Oh, did I forget, terribly gorgeous. Being around Russell added another notch to my growth in womanhood. Russell encouraged my writing by creating "Eye on the Hand Dancer". The articles that I wrote were published in his Washington Business Guide magazine. Those articles have been incorporated into "Who's Who in Hand Dance".
For the future, Russell will continue being Russell--empowering himself and us. When he enjoys it, we enjoy it. His networking circle has grown to be a large empowerment movement that shares and respects each other's businesses.
Thank you Russell for everything that you have "BESTOWED" to the DC/MD/VA metropolitan area. You are truly appreciated and we pray that GOD will always return special favors and blessings to you to assist you in your continued endeavors, networking, community empowerment, and genuine concern for mankind. I will always consider you a very special friend and I will love you forever!!!!
