This article of Lee Session was written in 2004 for "Eye on the Hand Dancer". Lee Sessions (Mr. Do) is a Capricorn. He is an Army man and a father. He has a companion and he calls her affectionately, "my lady". He grew up in Baltimore via North Carolina. He is a very successful businessman in the Baltimore area. He has owned and operated a barbershop called Mr. Do's Hair Design for 17 years. He had the idea for a while in his head then when the funds and the opportunity became available he pursued his dream.
His barbershop is very successful and he has always believed in giving back. The barbershop donates to shelters in the Baltimore community and sponsors scholarships.
To showcase his good will to his clients for their continued support, he decided to give an Appreciation Party. The first two years the party was free and everyone came. The next year the party was $10 to the guest and free to the clientele. However, if you visited the shop and received a service, you could get a free ticket. The Appreciation Party is always the first Sunday in May. In 2004, the party cost $35 to his guest and $25 to his clientele because he rents the entire facility (The Forum) and provides free drinks, food, and a photo; and provides a room for hand dancing, free style, and Chicago Steppin. This year, 2011, the cost was $55 and well worth it. Thank God, he got new caterers; they were much, much better than the previous ones. The party is always very, very classy; and is considered the best and most generous party given in the DC,MD,VA dance communities.
Lee is an old school dancer who has developed his new school hand dance style in D.C. and Baltimore. He indulges himself with the pleasures of going on many cruises. He is a hard workingman that plays hard. He organized a few hand dance cruises.
On a personal note, Lee Session is a very smooth, cool, no stress, diplomatic walking and talking gentlemen. He and his lady have class and style, and they make a very nice couple. To me, Lee Session is the Diplomat of the dance community.
