MOST CREATIVE DANCERS OF 2002

This web page consist of the Most Creative Hand Dancers (pictures and videos) who competed in this competition in 2002.  They were considered the "Most Creative" because they were required to choreograph a routine from music that they did not dance to regularly and create a dance routine from music that they did not select.  In the majority of categories, music was selected by the dancers.  They were "all" required and expected to dance in "costumes".  They were dressed impeccably, beautifully, and extraordinarily as professional performers. The competition was held at the Hollywood Ballroom in Silver Spring, Maryland, in January 2002.  This was not an easy competition for the competitors, however, the prize money was worth their hard work.  More importantly, every competitor was a winner.  There were also special dance demonstrations performed.  This competition was created, sponsored, directed, organized, and produced by yours truly (Marcia Foster).  I created a dance business called CREATIVE CONCEPTS by MARCIA 2001.  Its function was to provide hand dance event coordination services and to promote them.  Of course, I respected and needed the assistance of Lawrence Bradford and other hand dancers.
When I first saw one of Lawrence Bradford's hand dance competitions, I was truly, truly impressed.  Then I saw one of Ronald and Bunny's competition and I said to myself I am going to do one of those "myself".  The hand dance competitions were exciting to me.  Additionally, my main reason was to test my organizational and administrative skills that I had learned from working in the federal government.  However, I was always a creative type person.  Instead of buying a retirement car, I used that money for the competition.  It seemed as though everyone from the hand dance community was there that January 2002.  I only made one major mistake organizing this event and that was to trust the person that promised to handle my registration process, in which she reneged.  All in all--it was a cool thing to do and I enjoyed every minute of it.  Honestly, I could use that retirement car about now (smile).
